Josh and Bruno open the Flagship Store in Brunswick. It’s open 16 hours a day. Bruno makes the gelato daily, and Josh lives in an apartment above the store.

Dark Chocolate Noir Sorbetto is first created in response to a chef’s challenge.

Gelato Fiasco responds to a fiscal crisis at the Brunswick Teen Center and holds a fundraiser where scoopers served on average about one dish of gelato or cup of espresso per minute, every minute, for 10 hours of the day. The event raised funds to fill the Teen Center’s end-of-year gap and pay for a month’s worth of operating costs and created the basis for our future Scooping for Community Program.

The Gelato Fiasco Flagship Store closes for four days for renovation because heavy foot traffic wore through the floors.
January 20, 2012
The Gelato Fiasco Old Port opens in the middle of winter, giving us a few months to work out the kinks.

The first taste of Sweet Resurgam Gelato is offered. The burnt sugar, roasted almond, and chocolate-sliver flavor celebrates our new Old Port store. It’s supposed to be available for a limited time, but folks love it immensely and overwhelmingly vote to make it a permanent flavor in our Brunswick and Portland stores.

Our new jar-inspired pint packaging is officially released. The release represents a new stage in Gelato Fiasco’s mission to bring Maine-made gelato to people inside and outside of Maine.

Bon Appetit names Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato as one of America’s best store-bought craft ice creams.

We launch three new seasonal flavors in pints and stores for the holidays: Santa’s Little Helper Gelato, Red Flannel Whoopie Pie Gelato, and Darkest Chocolate Peppermint Sorbetto.

The Wall Street Journal places Gelato Fiasco on The Off Duty 50, its list of great products, styles, trends, and recipes for spring.

Ripe Mango Sorbetto receives the No. 1. sofi Gold Award for Best Frozen Dessert at the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Show in New York City. These are among the most prestigious awards in the specialty food world.

Gelato Fiasco opens a one-week pop-up shop, the Gelato Fiasco Holiday Lodge, on Newbury Street in Boston, to kick off the holiday season.

The Gelato Truck launches for the summertime on Portland’s Eastern Prom.

Our Old Port store re-opens after several months of renovations on the larger building, with a sleek new glass facade and patio.

All systems go for the 2022! The Truck has returned to the Prom, and both Old Port and Brunswick are back to normal service after Covid-19 limitations.
