Remember blueberry crisp with a scoop on top? Our version has blueberries, crunchy oat streusel, and vanilla gelato. Wow.
What could be more traditional here in Maine than a good blueberry crisp? Founder Josh (whose family was all too familiar with “ku-plink, ku-plank, ku-plunk” when he was little) was thinking about that summertime dessert when looking through a well-worn old Maine cookbook. Bright, tart wild blueberries intersected with a sweet and crunchy oat covering and kissed by a scoop of vanilla. That depth is perfected in Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato.
We first create a tasty vanilla bean gelato. We then swirl in lots of wild blueberries from Down East and top with an oat streusel. Creamy with lots of blueberry bursts and a sweet crunch, it’s a special dessert that tastes like summer in Maine.
