BRUNSWICK – The Gelato Fiasco and the Brunswick Teen Center will join to support Brunswick’s youth by holding a special event on Wednesday, April 1. The Maine Street flagship store of The Gelato Fiasco will donate all April 1 sales beyond the seasonal daily average to the Brunswick Teen Center.
The event, dubbed the “Fool’s Day Fiasco,” will be held during the store’s regular hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Volunteers, including principals of local schools and coaches of local sports teams, will serve as celebrity scoopers from Noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. A capella group Ursus Verses from Bowdoin College is expected to perform at 8 p.m. Random giveaways of Gelato Fiasco T-shirts, gift cards, and bagged coffee will also take place during the evening hours.
The Gelato Fiasco will donate all sales beyond the average for a Wednesday in April. Therefore, the donation size increases as additional local residents make purchases.
“We’re thrilled to partner with a local organization that does such good work for Brunswick teenagers,” said Joshua Davis, owner of The Gelato Fiasco. “By simply coming out on April 1 to enjoy a dish of gelato, customers can show their support for the Brunswick Teen Center, too.”
The Gelato Fiasco uses authentic Italian methods, Maine milk, and fresh ingredients to create innovative gelato flavors from scratch at its kitchen in Brunswick. In addition to the 30 flavors available daily at its store in Brunswick, the brand is also available at fine restaurants and select grocery stores in central and southern Maine.
UPDATE: The Brunswick Times Record ran a lengthy story on Monday about the Teen Center and mentioned Wednesday’s fundraiser. Read it here.
